Yifat Solel is a member of the executive committee of the Meretz Party and was in the 9th place on Meretz list to Parliament. She is co-chair of the Meretz Party “Struggle against the occupation” forum. She is a member of the “Sheikh Jarrah Solidarity” movement and a member of the executive committee of the Israeli Disarmament Movement (RPM).

 

She is chairperson of “The Cooperatives Alliance for Social, Economic and Environmental Justice”, an umbrella organization of cooperatives that emerged out of the social protest of 2011 in order to achieve civic economic power. The Alliance helps start and promote cooperatives, gives services to its members and trying to create a favorable environment for cooperatives. The Alliance initiates commercial relations between Palestinian and Israeli cooperatives. The current initiative is for Palestinian producers’ cooperatives and the factory they owned selling products to the Israeli consumers’ cooperatives.

 

Yifat Solel specializes in social rights legislation; conducting legal struggles and submitting petitions to the Supreme Court in order to enhance free speech, democratic rights, and create social change. She works with social change organizations as a legal advisor. She is also a researcher at the Van-Leer institute and writes academic and non-academic articles regarding social justice and civil rights.
