70 days 4 Peace-Be a Witness for Peace: May 28- August 5
7:00 pm-7:16 pm every evening- 66 Winthrop St Cambridge
University Lutheran will vigil on each of the 70 days leading up to the 70th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. At 7 pm words of welcome and purpose are spoken and at 7:15 there will be a minute of silence. Those gathered are invited to participate as the spirit moves them, including lighting candles or writing a few words of prayer.

Guantanamo – What Is the Answer?

Milton High School Amnesty International Club together with Milton for Peace will be presenting a forum on Wednesday evening June 10th at Keyes Community Room at Milton Public Library entitled “Guantanamo – What is the Truth? Detention, Interrogation and Judicial Practices of the US Government” with speakers Terry Rockefeller documentary film producer of September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows; Matthew Allen, Public Advocacy Coordinator for the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts; Margaret Ashur of International Law Journal at Boston University; and Peace and Justice Activist Susan McLucas. The event starts at 6:45.

Join Mass. Downwinders as we call for closing the most unsafe nuclear plant in the nation!
The march with consist of 54 miles over 4 days. You can join for part of, or all of the march. The march wil go through Plymouth, Kingston, Scituate, Braintree, and Boston. Welcome the marchers to Boston on Tuesday the 16th: gather at Dewey Square at 1pm and march to the State House for a rally from 2-4pm in Gardiner Auditorium.

We hope that current talks between Iran and the United States will bring positive results for both nations.

Reading Group: Racism and the Peace Movement
To raise our awareness of racial issues that affect our work, we are starting a summer reading group on racism and the peace movement and you are invited to join. The group will meet 3 times, once each in June, July, and August, then done. The first meeting will tentatively be Wednesday, June 17 from 7-9pm, at 11 Garden St, Cambridge; the other dates will be set at the first meeting. For the first meeting we will read 4 articles, by Michael McPhearson, Betty Burkes, and Peggy McIntosh. For the second and third meetings we will read Vincent Intondi’s book African Americans Against the Bomb. Please write info@masspeaceaction.org by June 12 if you wish to participate!
