Peace Action Merges with Largest Affiliate, Peace Action West

Peace Action 2015 National organizers conference

Our parent organization, Peace Action, a national grassroots organization with its headquarters office just outside Washington in Silver Spring, Maryland, and Peace Action West, its Oakland, California-based affiliate, have been working on a formal, legal merger for over two years. It’s finally done! The merger became effective as of May 1.

Over the last few years, the organizations have conducted much pre-merger due diligence and planning.  Peace Action and Peace Action West have merged and retain the name Peace Action for the 501-c-4 membership organization, to which our grassroots groups are affiliated, and the Peace Action Education Fund for the 501-c-3 educational arm. Peace Action PAC, our political action committee, will also continue as part of the merger.

Massachusetts Peace Action continues to be a state affiliate of the new merged national Peace Action organization, and Carol Coakley continues to represent us on its national board of directors.

The merged staff directory is posted at http://www.peace-action.org/staff-directory

While we continue to work out the internal details of merging the organizations, we expect to realize a synergy of the two, and become more efficient and more powerful.  We look forward to our continued partnerships and to forging new ones. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have (and also, please be patient if we don’t have all the answers just yet!).

A merger celebration will be held in Washington, DC around the time of our National Organizers Meeting and Capitol Hill Lobby Day, May 23-25.
