Massachusetts Observes Hiroshima and Nagasaki Week 2017

In Watertown, Watertown Citizens for Peace, Justice and the Environment organized a Building a Nuclear-Free World event with candle boats on the evening of August 6.

Tony Palomba organized the event very well and we had good attendance We held signs around the traffic corners and many cars responded approvingly. After dark we went over the the bank of Charles river, gave speeches, and sang songs. At the end we launched vessels with lighted candles down the river, like Japanese people commonly do. We had a good time.

Two fire-engines actually came over and the officer talked with Tony. It appeared some neighbors were concerned about fire-safety. We had the required permit and there was no issue. One fire-engine stayed throughout the candle launching event. So we could say that we had police and fire protection !
