Massachusetts Peace Action today announced 8 winners of its 2015 Peace & Planet Poster and Video Design Contest. The winners, high school students in Falmouth and Natick, won cash prizes totaling $1,500.
The first prize winner for video is Alexandra Minos of Falmouth High School. For poster design, the first prize winner is Marcus Artner of Falmouth High; second prize, Isabella DeMarco of Natick; third prize, Colton Lubbe of Falmouth; honorable mentions, Alexa Johnson, Craig Green, John Shahzade, and Julia Scussel, all of Falmouth High School.
“The five judges were very inspired by all the entries, because they showed how a new generation thinks about nuclear weapons,” said Guntram Mueller, board chairman of Massachusetts Peace Action. “We created the contest to encourage youth to bring their creativity to the cause of peace,” Mueller continued.
Posters will be made of the winning entries and carried by Massachusetts Peace Action members in the Peace and Planet rally and march to abolish nuclear weapons in New York City on April 26. The images and video will also be displayed on the Massachusetts Peace Action website, masspeaceaction.org. First prize winners will receive a check for $500; second prize, $250; third prize, $150; honorable mention, $25.
