Mass. Peace Action’s Palestine/Israel task force will present Harvard professor Stephen Walt on “Taking on the Israel lobby: Obstacles and Opportunities”, Wednesday, May 7, 7:00 pm at Cambridge Friends Meeting.

Progressive Democrats of America‘s 10th anniversary celebration will be held May 10 in Northampton.  Join us there — contact the office to coordinate carpools from Eastern Mass!

Also on May 10, our spring Music for Peace concert, “Brahms Birthday Celebration”,  will feature the brooding Clarinet Trio and the stormy Piano Trio in c minor. With James Buswell, violin; Anzel Gerber, cello; Jonathan Coehler, clarinet; Victor Rosenbaum, piano. Saturday, May 10, 7:30pm, Harvard-Epworth Methodist Church, 1555 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, near Harvard Law School. $25 for members in advance, $35 for non-members or at the door to benefit thte Massachusetts Peace Action Education Fund.

Walk with MAPA at the Mother’s Day Walk for Peace, Town Field, near Fields Corner T stop, Dorchester, from 7 to 10 am.  This walk supports the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, founded by mothers who lost their children to violence.

On Wednesday, May 14 Lawrence Wittner and Elaine Scarry will speak on “A Nuclear Weapons Free World: History, Recent Developments, Future Prospects”, at the Harvard Center for Government and International Studies, 1730 Cambridge St., Room S-050, Cambridge.   Wittner will also speak on “A Nuclear Weapons Free World” at MIT room 26-414 at 12:30 the same day.

A Budget for All lobby day to push for passage of the B4A state resolutions will be held Thursday, May 22 at the State House.  Meet at 10am in the 4th floor cafeteria.”

A Sing-Along to Pete Seeger Songs to benefit war refugees will be held Saturday, May 24, 7pm at Calvary United Methodist Church, 300 Mass. Ave., Arlington.  More info

Crisis in the Ukraine: Cold War? Civil War? Roots of the Conflict” with speakers Mark Solomon and Gary Leupp will be held on Thursday, May 28, 7pm at the First Parish, 3 Church St., Cambridge, sponsored by United for Justice with Peace.

Volunteers needed!  Our next summer tabling date will be the Cambridge RiverFest on Saturday afternoon, June 7, from 12-6pm (note its NEW LOCATION – Central Square!)   We’ll be talking to passersby and gathering petition signatures in cooperation with Boston WILPF.  The first outreach table of the year last Saturday in JP went extremely well.   Contact the office to help out!   We’ll also be going to New Bedford, Lowell, Lawrence and other locations later in the summer.

Mass. Peace Action will sponsor a lobby day in support of a permanent nuclear deal with Iran on Monday and Tuesday, June 23-24, in Washington, DC and at district offices in Massachusetts.   Join a planning call this Thursday, May 8, at 3pm (call 617-354-2169 for the conference code) or email the office to let us know you can join us!

Please welcome our new Worcester-based campus organizer Alina Michelewicz, who is starting to reach out to faculty and student supporters to connect peace-minded students to Peace Action, and our first summer intern, Richard Reichmann.
