It’s time for an all out push to help win paid sick days in Massachusetts. Over a million workers who do not now enjoy the right to earn sick days to take off sick to care for themselves and their families without risking their jobs will win that right if we are successful.
The opposition has been pushing its advertisement campaign designed to confuse voters. We need to answer them by reaching as many working people as possible with the message VOTE YES ON 4. Its not fair to ask workers to choose between their job and their health or caring for their loved ones and keeping their jobs.
The RaiseUp Coalition in which Mass Peace Action works has set up opportunities every day for us to Work on Get Out the vote activities in our communities or from our homes.
CALLING FROM HOME:
Possibly the easiest way to help is by using the RaiseUp Massachusetts High Tech Hubdialer system from our home. The HubDialer systems, which requires a computer, internet connection and a phone, allow us to connect with many more callers than we normally could by having the computer call numerous numbers until it gets someone home then connects us. Almost instantly after finishing with one voter, we simply press ext call and will get another voter to tlk with. The calling script is available on the computer screen. The HubDialer is available all this week, with the times and log-in information listed below:
CALLING FROM CALL CENTERS:
For those who would rather call from call centers with other callers and more of a feeling of collective effort, RaiseUp has a number of Call centers. Below are the ones from Cambridge, Boston, and Newton. If you would like to find a call center near you in other towns, let me know and I will attempt to find the closest center to your location:
Cambridge:
HUCTW in-person Phone Bank on Wednesday and Thursday 4-8:30 pm
Boston:
RaiseUp Office, 150 Mt. Vernon Ave., 2d Floor,, Boston (near JFK Umass stop on Red Line)
Calling center available during all Hubdialer calling shifts –see calling from home above for days and times)
CANVASSING AND CALLING SAT. NOV 1- ELECTION DAYNOV. 4:
Canvassing efforts will begin Saturday Nov. 1 through Tuesday Nov. 4, and for those that have signed up, they can go to the following address to collect their canvassing materials and get in training/ask any questions they may need before hitting the doors. TO SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER FOR A WEEKEND CANVASS DOOR-DOOR OR BY PHONE CLICK HERE: http://yeson4ma.org/
Some of these Raiseup locations are also being used as the staging locations for other campaigns, in which case you can canvass for multiple causes (a significant number of our volunteers have chosen to do this) or go on to canvass for Yes on 4 alone.
Cambridge:
Please forgive the blast of information all at once. There are pleanty of opportunities to do what we can for Earned Paid Sick Days in the final week. Let the people you work with or volunteer coordinators know you are from Peace Action and do what you can. Each person’s action will help us win for a million others in our commonwealth.
