Fall 2011 Peacemaker Internship

Massachusetts Peace Action is seeking students, recent graduates, or young activists who can commit 8-10 hours per week from September to December.  Start and end dates are flexible.   The position is unpaid.  We can work with you to receive academic credit or get additional funding if you are work-study eligible.  If there is interest, there is the possibility of extending the internship. Our office is located in Harvard Square, Cambridge.

 

Responsibilities may include:

 

– Drafting educational and promotional materials (flyers, fact sheets)

– Tracking the development of relevant legislation and campaigns

– Posting updates to Facebook, Twitter, our website, and writing e-mail alerts

– Working with staff and board members to plan fundraising events, forums, lectures, and special projects

– Showing films and talks at your campus, and organizing a student peace group

– Assisting with mailings, data entry, and other projects as needed

 

Qualifications:

– Demonstrated passion for international peace and justice issues and the U.S. political process

– Demonstrated interest in grassroots organizing

– Desire to work as part of a small team in a grassroots setting

– Writing, analytical and planning skills

– Computer skills using Microsoft office; knowledge of HTML, graphic design, blogging, and social networking are helpful but not required
