If you don’t live in one of these districts, drive to New Hampshire to suport Carol Shea-Porter, who is endorsed by New Hampshire Peace Action and national Peace Action for Congress and faces a tough race. Or volunteer to help Lewis, Dixon or Patrick in their districts. Notify friends who live in one of the contested districts to vote for our endorsed candidate, and contact the candidate’s office to help out between now and the elections. Our work made a huge difference in September and can be decisive in the November election. Moses Dixon for State Representative (Worcester, Leicester)
Moses Dixon is running for State Representative in the 17th Worcester District. The first member of his family to graduate from college, he graduated from Howard University then earned a Master’s degree in Community Development and Planning from Clark University. He then went to work for the people of Worcester and Leicester. Working on Capitol Hill and on Beacon Hill for Representative 
Mary Keefe, he learned the legislative process “hands-on.” And working for organizations representing workers, seniors, and veterans, he learned about organizing people to get things done. On issues, he supports universal broadband, pay equity for women, freezing/reducing state tuition rates, and offering greater support to our veterans. Attorney General Maura Healey has said, “Moses shares my values, and has a strong commitment to social and economic justice.” These values clearly came through in a hotly contested Democratic Primary, but the legislative seat has gone back and forth between Democratic and Republican parties and we need to do all we can to help elect Moses who will be the first African American legislator elected from the Worcester area.
Jack Patrick Lewis for State Representative (Framingham, Ashland)
Jack Patrick Lewis is running to fill an open seat being vacated by Rep.Tom Sannicandro in the 7th Middlesex District which is all of Ashland and one third of Framingham. Jack believes that funds from unnecessary military spending could instead be allocated to fund social security, combat climate change, and make college education affordable. He also believes that the United States could do more in supporting Syrian refugees. With regard to nuclear weapons, Jack supports nuclear disarmament. On state issues, he supports a living wage, fair tax policies, access to high-quality affordable healthcare, better public education, creating a 21st century public transportation system, funding programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Jack won the primary as the clear progressive in a numerous Democratic field. He also faces a strong Republican contender.
Matt Patrick for State Representative (Bourne, Falmouth, Mashpee)
We are excited to endorse Matt Patrick who is running for the Third Barnstable District House seat. Through years of community organizing and legislative experience, Matt has proven himself as the best candidate to continue his legacy of enacting meaningful, progressive change.
After moving to Falmouth in 1980 to start a family with his wife, Louise, Matt started his own solar panel installation business and volunteered to lead several environmental and preservation efforts on Cape Cod around the Waquoit Bay area and beyond. He was instrumental in the passage of the Cape Cod Commission Act and the acquisition of open space to preserve and protect the Quashnet River in Falmouth and Mashpee. In his professional life, he directed the non-profit energy advocacy and loan organization, Self-Reliance and was elected first as a Falmouth Town Meeting Representative and later a two term Falmouth Selectman, serving as Chairman of the Board for one year.
In 2001, Matt was elected as the 3rd Barnstable District’s State Representative, an office through which he served for 10 years. During that time, he was the sponsor of legislation to help grow the clean energy opportunities for people all across the Commonwealth, spur economic growth for local businesses, support public health and safety and increase the value of his district. Matt still lives in Waquoit and is still involved in the community.
We recognize Matt Patrick’s dedication to passing effective, progressive legislation and are proud to endorse him to represent the Third Barnstable District on Beacon Hill.
