This Fair Trade Organic Olive Oil produced by Sindyanna of Galilee. Our sales support Palestinian Olive Growers in the Galilee and raise money for projects supporting peace and justice in Region. In the past we have given money to several schools in both Israel and Palestine – a dual language school in Israel, a United Nations school in an East Jerusalem refugee camp, a preschool in the West Bank, the Cultural Center of the Aida Refugee Camp in Bethlehem. We have also supported the artistic work and collaboration of two groups who bring together Jews and Palestinians — The West-East Divan Orchestra (Daniel Barenboim, Conductor) and Arts Bridge – both of which work in the Region as well as in other parts of the world. Finally, we have offered ongoing support to Jay’yous, a Palestinian village with whom we now have developed personal relationships by visiting them twice and regularly sending them money to purchase trees that have been cut down by the Israeli Defense Fund.
Sponsored by the Middle East Working Group of Kahal B’raira (KBMEWG)
One of Sindyanna’s primary activities is to restore and develop the Arab olive industry in Israel and secure a fair return for Arab farmers. The income from the cultivation of olives has been a mainstay in western Galilee for centuries, but Arab farmers in Israel face many obstacles which make accessing markets and other resources they need difficult. With Sindyanna, Arab farmers are able to sell their crop under fair conditions.
