Today, December 1, 2015, Massachusetts Peace Action kicks off the holiday season by participating in Giving Tuesday, a national day of charitable giving.
Giving Tuesday is a day to celebrate generosity and give to the non-profit organizations – like Massachusetts Peace Action Education Fund — that you care about most.
Through the flames of war in the Middle East we can glimpse a more peaceful future. One in which negotiations, not bombers, will be used to settle disputes — as we did with the Iran Deal. One in which refugees and immigrants will be welcomed with open arms — not scorned as if Americans had forgotten how our ancestors got here.
We know our country is better than this. But we must work hard to make it so.
We have so much to be thankful for this holiday season. Thank you for:
- Making your voice heard by emailing and calling and emailing your Members of Congress through our action alerts.
- Supporting our successful eight-year campaign to promote diplomacy with Iran.
- Helping us push back against the fear-mongering that threatens to harden our hearts against refugees fleeing war.
- Standing up against the militarization of our foreign policy by opposing the escalation of war in Iraq and Syria.
- Supporting our campaigns for a world free of nuclear weapons and nuclear pollution.
- Promoting our shared values of peace, human rights, and diplomacy.
We would not have achieved so much this year without your support and activism. But our work is not yet over. Click here to invest in Massachusetts Peace Action Education Fund so we can build a more peaceful world!
Our “Building Sustainable Security” conference Nov. 21 brought together 300 people and 49 cosponsoring organizations. (If you missed it, the video is worth a look.) The conference focused on the links between extreme inequality, racism, climate catastrophe, and the global insecurity that our nation’s hegemonic policies have created. It charted the outline of a new peace movement — one which opposes US wars and militarism in a way that is integrally linked to the democratic and progressive agenda of the U.S. people, from economic justice to ending mass incarceration to immigrant rights. Making the connections clear is one of Massachusetts Peace Action’s key strategies.
Thank you for your support. Please celebrate the holiday season today with a tax-deductible gift!
