Budget for All to reach more than 1 million voters

The Budget for All will be voted on by at least 1,016,250 voters or 33.9% of the state’s voters!

We are definitely on the ballot in 13 districts which will reach 446,000 voters. We think we’re on the ballot in 20 more districts which will reach an additional 570,000 voters. We might be on the ballot in 2 more districts reaching 37,500 more voters.

District by District Status

Now that the July 3 deadline to turn in signatures to towns has passed, here’s the district by district status as far as we know. (Please send additional information about your district to Cole Harrison (cole@masspeaceaction.org) or Paul Shannon (pshannon@afsc.org).

A) Definitely on ballot

The Secretary of State’s office has accepted certified signatures and confirmed in writing that we will be on the ballot in:

Senate districts:

First Suffolk (Hart) [ Dorchester ]
First Middlesex & Norfolk (Creem) [ Brookline, Newton, part of Wellesley ]
Second Middlesex (Jehlen) [ Somerville, Medford, Winchester, north and west Cambridge ]
Norfolk & Suffolk (Rush) [ Roslindale, West Roxbury, Dedham, Dover, Needham, Norwood, Westwood ]

House districts:

9th Middlesex (Stanley) [ part of Waltham, Lincoln ]
10th Middlesex (Lawn) [ parts of Watertown, Waltham and Newton ]
23rd Middlesex [ parts of Arlington & Medford ]
24th Middlesex [ Belmont; parts of Arlington and north Cambridge ]
29th Middlesex (Hecht) [ parts of Watertown and Cambridge ]
32nd Middlesex (Clark) [ Melrose, parts of Malden & Wakefield ]
7th Norfolk (Timilty) [ most of Milton and Randolph ]
8th Plymouth [ Bridgewater, Raynham ]
5th Essex (Ferranti) [ Gloucester, Rockport, Essex ]

B) Town Certified

In these districts, towns have certified sufficient signatures, but they have not been turned in to the Secretary of State yet. Will be on ballot unless there is some technical problem.

Senate Districts:

Second Suffolk (Chang-Diaz) [ Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, adjoining areas ]
First Suffolk & Middlesex (Petruccelli) [ Beacon Hill, Chinatown, East Boston, North End, South End, Cambridgeport, Revere, Winthrop ]

House Districts:

5th Middlesex (Linsky) [ Natick, Sherborn, part of Millis ]
13th Middlesex (Conroy) [ Sudbury and parts of Framingham, Marlborough and Wayland ]
5th Hampden [ Holyoke ]
1st Hampshire [ Northampton, Southhampton, Westhampton, Montgomery, Hatfield ]

C) Turned in, Awaiting Certification

We believe we’ve turned in enough signatures to the towns that a sufficient number will be certified (typically at least a 20% margin), or at last report we were on track to do so. We expect almost all of these to be on the ballot.

Senate District:

Middlesex & Suffolk (DiDomenico) [ central Cambridge; Chelsea; Everett; Charlestown; parts of North End and of Allston-Brighton ]
Second Suffolk & Middlesex (Brownsberger) [ Back Bay, Fenway, part of Allston-Brighton, Belmont, Watertown ]

House Districts:

6th Middlesex (Walsh) [ most of Framingham ]
15th Middlesex (Kaufman) [ Lexington, much of Woburn ]
12th Norfolk (Rogers) [ Norwood, much of Walpole ]
7th Bristol (Aguiar) [ part of Fall River ]
3rd Plymouth (Bradley) [ Cohasset, Hull, most of Hingham, part of Scituate ]
1st Essex [ Amesbury, Newburyport, Salisbury ]
2nd Essex [ Georgetown, Groveland, Merrimac, Newbury, West Newbury, bits of Boxford & Haverhill ]
8th Essex [ Marblehead, Swampscott, part of Lynn ]
16th Essex [ most of Lawrence ]
4th Berkshire (Pignatelli) [ 15 towns including Great Barrington, Lee and Lenox ]
3rd Hampshire (Story) [ Amherst, Pelham, part of Granby ]

D) Possible

In these we were getting close or trying hard at last report, but we haven’t heard a final count.

House Districts:

7th Essex (Keenan) [ Salem ]
11th Essex (Fennell) [ much of Lynn; Nahant ]
